Maryland Food Supplement Program Grows at Tremendous Rate: County Data - April 2009
In April 2009 the Food Supplement Program participation - at 456,52 persons - was up over the month by 13,839 people (3.1 percent increase) and over April 2008 by 97,717 people (27.2 percent increase). Maryland's participation in the Food Supplement Program continues to grow tremendously. In April 2009 the largest increase in people participating in the Food Supplement Program in Maryland over the last year took place in Queen Anne's, Prince George's, Calvert and Caroline Counties. School is Almost Out! Look for a Summer Meal site near you!
Children need healthy, nutritious food all year long, even when they are not in school. When school is out in the summertime, children ages 18 years and under can get free nutritious meals and snacks through the Summer Meals program. The program sites are located at schools and organizations throughout the state of Maryland. To learn more and find a location near you, call 1-877-731-9300 or visit www.mdsummermeals.org. New Funding Opportunities

Become part of Maryland's Food Supplement Outreach Plan - Deadline: July 15, 2009
The Maryland Department of Human Resources is now accepting proposals from nonprofits to be a part of the outreach plan. Nonprofits chosen by the Maryland State Department of Human Resources to be part of the plan can be reimbursed with federal funds for up to 50 percent of their expenses related to approved Food Supplement outreach activities.
