Maryland Hunger Solutions Welcomes Elisabet Eppes as Deputy Director

BALTIMORE, January 23, 2023 — Maryland Hunger Solutions (MDHS) is proud to announce Elisabet Eppes has been named deputy director at the premier nonprofit organization working to eradicate poverty-related hunger and undernutrition in Maryland. 

“We warmly and enthusiastically welcome Elisabet to the team and look forward to working closely with her as we look ahead to the new year and beyond,” said Maryland Hunger Solutions Director Michael J. Wilson. “Elisabet has been a long-time champion of WIC and other federal nutrition programs. We are delighted to have her experience and deep passion for helping others in need as we continue working to eradicate hunger across the state.” 

Eppes brings over 10 years of experience in public health and has been dedicated to combating hunger through advocacy, policy, and outreach. Eppes also brings a wealth of knowledge and a unique perspective in working to eradicate hunger in Maryland. In this role, she will work closely with other local and state advocates, policymakers, and community partners to end hunger and promote well-being in our great state. Before joining Maryland Hunger Solutions, Eppes was senior research program manager at Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health. 

“I am thrilled to join the Maryland Hunger Solutions team to support the organization’s advocacy agenda and foster strategic partnerships across the state of Maryland,” said Eppes. “I look forward to working with the incredible staff members at MDHS in their ongoing efforts to end hunger and improve the health and well-being of all Maryland residents.” 

Eppes holds a master’s in public health in nutritional sciences from the University of Washington and a Bachelor of Science in biobehavioral health from Pennsylvania State University. She is a founding member of the WIC Access Group and a member of the Healthy Eating Research Nutrition and Obesity Policy Research & Evaluation Network WIC Learning Collaborative.
